LET'S IMPROVE COORDINATION
SDG COORDINATOR
BACKGROUND
Many countries are facing problems on planning and implementing a coherent system with smoothly running production of SDG indicators. The challenge is especially on coordination of work processes within the NSS where indicators are based on data from data providers outside the National Statistical Organisations.
Implementing a coherent solution requires handling complex legal, political, organisational and technical aspects. Consequently, a coherent and practical implementable approach is needed. SDG-coordinator together with introductory training in Sustainable Quality in Official Statistics can help.
What is SDG Coordinator
- Simple tool with excel workbooks and a web-application
- Shared information about statistical programs, SDG indicators, dataflows and calendars
- Requires knowledge about selected statistical standards
Why could it be a good idea to use it?
- Easy-to-use technology: SDG Coordinator can be used immediately without IT development and IT installations (only Excel, access to Dropbox, and access to web-app needed)
- The web application improves communication and coordination in the National Statistical System via sharing of metadata, calendars and other information
- Ensures common understanding via use of selected elements from quality frameworks and statistical standards
- Based on 30+ years of experience from Lars Thygesen and Mogens Grosen Nielsen working with statistics, quality, metadata and coordination
- Armenia and others are testing the tool
